Finance & Accounting Manager – Global Private Equity
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workspace Type: On-site
Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000
A top-tier global private investment firm is seeking an accounting professional to join its Finance function. The firm is widely regarded as one of the most successful platforms in the alternative investment industry, with a long track record of disciplined investing across multiple sectors and geographies. This opportunity sits within a highly tenured team known for its strong culture, exceptional retention, and consistently engaging work; people stay because the scope is broad, the work is high-impact, and nothing feels repetitive.
This role is particularly attractive for someone coming from Audit or public accounting who is ready to move into industry without giving up technical complexity. The work is partnership-heavy, analytical, and highly visible, with clear outputs and direct connection to firm-level economics.
Overview
The Finance Manager will play a central role supporting the accounting, reporting, and operational oversight of U.S. partnership entities and incentive-related structures. The position combines technical partnership accounting with ongoing analytical work tied to allocations, distributions, reporting, and internal stakeholder support. Rather than operating in a narrow, task-oriented lane, this role is built around ownership and judgment: interpreting partnership agreements, ensuring precision in reporting, and translating complex data into clear, executive-ready outputs.
The role partners closely with internal teams across finance, tax, legal, and operations, and regularly supports senior leadership with reporting and analysis. Discretion, accuracy, and follow-through are critical, as the work involves highly sensitive financial information.
Compensation and Benefits
The firm offers best-in-class compensation and benefits, including:
- Base salary + Annual bonus (~30%)
- Profit sharing: ~7% (eligible after two years of service)
- 401(k) match: ~$10,000 annually (eligible after one year)
- Healthcare: 90% employer-paid (medical, dental, vision, prescriptions)
- Tuition reimbursement and additional employee-focused perks
Key Responsibilities
- Own quarterly partnership allocations and distributions, including capital account maintenance and reconciliation across U.S. and international participants
- Oversee partnership books and records, ensuring accurate reconciliations, cash activity tracking, and supportable reporting under U.S. GAAP
- Support U.S. and international tax reporting, including taxable income allocations, K-1 coordination, and multi-jurisdictional reporting needs
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting for internal stakeholders and contribute to special projects, process improvements, and system enhancements
Ideal Background
- Progressive accounting experience, with public accounting (Audit or Tax) strongly preferred
- CPA strongly preferred
- Strong experience with U.S. partnership accounting and solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and handling confidential information
- Experience in private equity or alternative investments is a plus, but not required
