Drug industry groups rail against plan to waive Covid vaccine patent protection

Following weeks of pressure by Democratic lawmakers and more than 100 other countries, President Joe Biden said Wednesday that the U.S. would back a proposed World Trade Organization waiver of intellectual property rights for Covid-19 vaccines. But biotech and pharmaceutical trade groups, including MassBio and the national organization PhRMA, have criticized the move.
