Renovated ER alleviates strain on Boston hospitals to serve minorities farther from city center
The largest community health center in Massachusetts completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its emergency department, a move officials said will help alleviate the strain on Boston-area hospitals and provide quality care to communities with health inequities. Major downtown hospitals can be more difficult to access for the majority-minority residents north of Boston Harbor, such as now, during the closure of the Sumner Tunnel.
