Here’s why Harvard made all its museums free this summer

Harvard Art Museums has long been an outlier among college-affiliated campus art museums, with a collection so large it’s the seventh biggest of any museum in the country, with roughly 250,000 items. But it was also an outlier in another way: For years, it was one of few campus art museums to charge admission fees.
