China reportedly blocks Tripadvisor app and more than 100 others

The bans enacted by foreign governments might have pricey consequences on software companies based in the U.S. Earlier this year, India banned 59 mobile apps — including Bytedance’s video-sharing app TikTok, and Tencent’s messaging app WeChat. About 30 of the 59 Chinese apps were customers of Cambridge-based Akamai Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), which ended up losing $15 million in revenue.
