Former Harvard MGH researcher conducts historic, all-female spacewalk

Dr. Warren Zapol, anesthetist-in-chief emeritus at Massachusetts General Hospital, watched his mentee step outside of the International Space Station Friday morning through a livestream on his phone. Astronaut Jessica Meir, who was part of the first-ever, all-female spacewalk to replace a faulty battery on the space station on Friday, previously had worked as an assistant professor at the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital with Zapol.
