Months into pandemic, Mass. jobless claims remain high

While traditional jobless claims in Massachusetts have declined for six consecutive weeks, they remain at levels that are historically high even for a recession. The state has now seen more than 1 million new unemployment claims since coronavirus-related shutdowns started taking effect in March.
