The ordinance, if adopted, would make Boston the sixth city in Massachusetts to enact such a ban. Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, Northampton and Springfield have all passed similar ordinances as part of a campaign led by the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.
