Galvin pushes ahead with broker-dealer rule opposed by industry

Despite heavy opposition from investment firms, Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin is moving forward with a proposal to hold broker-dealers to a higher legal standard when interacting with investors. His office will hold a public hearing on the proposal, likely in early January, with the rule’s finalization to follow potentially as soon as Feb. 1, Galvin said in an interview Monday.
