Hefty salaries aside, thousands of faculty cuts highlight financial vice squeezing US colleges and universities

Among private and nonprofit and for-profit schools analyzed by The Business Journals, the median salary per instructor was about the same at roughly $71,000. At public universities, the median was just over $76,000.
