Global Tax Leader – Fintech

We’re partnering confidentially with a high-growth, mission-driven organization to identify a strategic VP of Tax. This leader will report directly to the CFO and oversee global tax planning, compliance, reporting, and risk management while overseeing a specialized team of 5 tax professionals. The role offers meaningful executive visibility and the opportunity to help shape a scalable tax infrastructure for a rapidly expanding organization.

Role Highlights:

  • Executive-level partnership with the CFO and senior leadership
  • Lead the company’s global tax function across compliance, planning, and controversy
  • Build, mentor, and develop a growing tax team (4–5 direct reports)
  • Drive tax strategy for a dynamic, multi-entity environment with ongoing expansion
  • Cross-functional exposure with Finance, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and M&A
  • Flexible hybrid work with purposeful travel to collaborate with leadership in key markets

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all U.S. and international tax compliance, reporting, and filings
  • Lead tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s effective tax rate while maintaining compliance
  • Manage tax provision (ASC 740), forecasting, and quarterly reporting processes
  • Partner with the CFO on tax considerations for acquisitions, integrations, and restructuring
  • Build and scale the internal tax team; establish controls, KPIs, and best-practice processes
  • Oversee transfer pricing documentation, intercompany policies, and global tax governance
  • Assess tax implications of new markets, products, and organizational initiatives
  • Manage external advisors and oversee federal, state, and international audits
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements across the tax lifecycle

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience in corporate environments; mix of public accounting and industry preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge across federal, state, and international tax
  • Deep ASC 740 experience, with a track record of leading tax provision and reporting
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, ideally in multi-entity or global environments
  • CPA or JD/LLM strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting M&A and advising on complex transactions
  • Strong communication, executive presence, and ability to influence cross-functionally
