A leading insurance and investment platform is seeking an AVP, Actuarial Financial Reporting to join its actuarial valuation organization and lead financial reporting for a portfolio of Variable Annuity blocks.

This is a highly visible role for an actuarial leader who understands Variable Annuities, valuation, reserves, GAAP/STAT reporting, and earnings analysis. The position is not a model-building role; instead, this team works closely with modeling, finance, accounting, STAT, GAAP, and data teams to analyze model outputs, book reserves, explain results, and support executive-level financial reporting.

What you’ll do

  • Lead actuarial financial reporting and valuation analysis for Variable Annuity blocks
  • Review and analyze model outputs, reserve movements, earnings results, and sensitivities
  • Support GAAP, Statutory, Tax, and other actuarial balance reporting
  • Partner cross-functionally with modeling, finance, accounting, data, and controls teams
  • Manage, develop, and support a small actuarial team
  • Help maintain and improve reporting processes, controls, and analytical frameworks
  • Support audits, regulatory requests, and recurring close/reporting cycles

Ideal background

  • FSA designation
  • Actuarial experience within life insurance, annuities, or related insurance products
  • Meaningful and recent Variable Annuity experience required
  • Strong understanding of valuation, reserves, GAAP, STAT, and actuarial financial reporting
  • Experience with VA reporting, valuation, modeling, or pricing will be considered
  • Prior people management or team leadership experience
  • Strong Excel skills; database experience is helpful
  • Python, MG-Triton / Triton, or other actuarial systems experience is a plus, but not required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner across actuarial, finance, accounting, and modeling teams

Compensation

  • Base salary with some flexibility for the right candidate
  • Equity component expected at this level
  • Total package up to approximately $240K

Why this opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to step into a visible actuarial leadership role with ownership of complex Variable Anuity blocks, exposure across multiple senior stakeholder groups, and long-term mobility across a broad insurance platform.

The right person will bring enough technical depth to understand the VA reserve and reporting mechanics, while also being able to lead a team, communicate clearly, and operate as a central partner across actuarial, finance, accounting, and modeling.
