VP, Investment Accounting | Boston (hybrid)

Base Salary: $160,000 - $190,000

A leading global investment and insurance platform is seeking a Vice President, Investment Accounting. This is a highly visible opportunity for a senior accounting professional with strong technical accounting experience and exposure to investment accounting, statutory reporting, reinsurance, and complex financial services environments.

This role will support reinsurance and statutory investment accounting/reporting for assets ceded to internal and external reinsurers. The position will partner closely with teams across Finance, Controllers, Investment Operations, Reinsurance, Bermuda Finance, IT, and deal/investment teams, with regular exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support accounting and reporting for reinsurance and statutory investment activity
  • Assist with quarter-end close procedures, analytical reviews, investment income validation, statutory reporting, B36 calculations, and impairment assessments
  • Support quarterly RBC-related work and coordination with statutory accounting teams
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on accounting and capital conclusions for new investments and reinsurance transactions
  • Maintain and enhance control functions in compliance with SOX and related requirements
  • Act as a liaison across Investment Accounting, Investment Operations, Finance, Reinsurance, and third-party service providers
  • Drive process improvement, automation, data consistency, and reporting enhancements across GAAP and STAT accounting bases
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to accounting professionals within the broader team

Ideal Profile

  • Relevant accounting experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles
  • Experience in investment accounting, insurance, reinsurance, asset management, financial services, or public accounting
  • Familiarity with SOX controls and public company environments
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience managing close processes and cross-functional deliverables
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting topics to stakeholders across the organization
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, complex environment
