Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workspace Type: Hybrid
Base Salary: $70,000 - $85,000
Origin Staffing is partnering with an established global investment firm to hire a Staff Accountant for its corporate finance team. This is an opportunity to build your accounting career through hands-on experience, mentorship from experienced colleagues, and exposure to the day-to-day operations of an international business.
The position is primarily focused on accounts payable and accounts receivable. Approximately 80% of the work involves invoices, billing, payments, expense reimbursements, and receivables, with the remaining time supporting general accounting, treasury, close activities, and special projects.
Candidates whose experience has been concentrated in AP, AR, or billing are encouraged to apply.
Recent graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience are also welcome. You do not need to have managed a month-end close or held a broad general ledger accounting role to be considered.
Why this opportunity stands out
You will report to a Corporate Accounting Manager and work alongside senior accountants and finance directors who provide guidance, review your work, and help you develop. As you become proficient in the core responsibilities, there is an opportunity to gradually take on more general ledger, reconciliation, close, and reporting work. AP and AR will remain central to the position as you build that broader foundation.
The firm offers the resources of a global organization, modern accounting systems, and a track record of internal career development. The compensation package is complemented by comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, education assistance, and wellness programs. A business-casual office, subsidized meals, complimentary coffee and snacks, and an on-site fitness facility round out the offering.
What you will do
- Process vendor invoices, review coding and supporting documentation, coordinate approvals, and help ensure payments are accurate and on time.
- Support employee expense reimbursements and corporate-card activity, research discrepancies, and respond to invoice and payment questions.
- Prepare billing and expense-reimbursement invoices, maintain accurate receivables records, track outstanding balances, and assist with collection follow-up.
- Help prepare and record wires and other payments, with exposure to treasury and day-to-day cash activity.
- Assist with account reconciliations, basic journal entries, and month-end and quarter-end close tasks, with guidance from experienced team members.
- Use Excel and accounting-system reports to research transactions, keep records organized, and contribute to process improvements and special projects.
What we are looking for
- Related experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, expense processing, or operational accounting. Relevant internships and co-ops count; experience in both AP and AR is not required.
- Accounting or Finance, and a foundation in general accounting through coursework and/or work experience.
- Solid Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables, along with a willingness to learn new accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through. You should be comfortable handling recurring invoices, billing, and payment-related tasks in an environment where accuracy and deadlines matter.
- Clear communication skills, a collaborative approach, and an interest in learning from colleagues while taking ownership of your day-to-day work.
This role offers a practical next step for someone who enjoys operational accounting and wants to develop broader skills within a well-supported corporate accounting team.
