Business Systems Director
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workspace Type: Hybrid
Base Salary: $190,000 - $215,000
We are partnering with a highly regarded global alternative investment firm that is looking to add a Director to its Business Systems organization, with a primary focus on Investor Relations and fundraising technology.
This is a senior, highly visible role working directly with Investor Relations, fundraising, client-facing teams, and technology leadership to improve the systems and processes that support the full investor lifecycle. The Director will help shape technology strategy while remaining close enough to the business to lead requirements, evaluate platforms, oversee implementations, improve workflows, and drive adoption.
The opportunity is particularly well suited for someone who has spent their career at the intersection of asset management, Investor Relations/fundraising, and technology and wants broader ownership of the platforms used to engage and service institutional investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Own Investor Relations technology: Serve as a senior technology partner to Investor Relations, fundraising, marketing, and other client-facing teams.
- Lead the investor technology roadmap: Evaluate existing processes and platforms, identify gaps, prioritize initiatives, and help define the future-state technology environment.
- Drive major implementations: Lead system evaluations, requirements gathering, vendor selection, implementation, testing, rollout, and ongoing enhancement of business applications.
- Support the investor lifecycle: Oversee technology supporting areas such as CRM, fundraising pipelines, DDQ/RFP workflows, investor onboarding, email marketing, LP portals, service/ticketing workflows, and investor reporting.
- Translate business needs into solutions: Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand complex business processes and convert them into clear functional and technical requirements.
- Improve reporting and analytics: Partner with business and technology teams to enhance investor, fundraising, pipeline, and management reporting.
- Manage integrations and data flows: Help ensure information moves effectively across CRM, onboarding, reporting, marketing, and other enterprise platforms.
- Lead across teams: Coordinate internal technology resources, vendors, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Drive adoption: Lead testing, documentation, training, change management, and ongoing support to ensure new technology delivers measurable business value.
- Mentor and develop talent: Provide guidance to business analysts and other team members while helping establish strong standards for systems delivery and product ownership.
What We’re Looking For
- Relevant experience across business systems, business analysis, technology product management, software implementation, or related functions.
- Experience within asset management, private markets, financial services, or another sophisticated investment environment.
- Direct experience supporting Investor Relations, fundraising, institutional client service, distribution, or related client-facing functions.
- Track record of owning or materially contributing to the evaluation, implementation, enhancement, and support of enterprise business applications.
- Strong understanding of the institutional investor lifecycle and the technology used to support fundraising and investor servicing.
- Experience with CRM platforms and investor-facing technology, ideally including some combination of CRM/fundraising systems, DDQ/RFP platforms, investor onboarding/KYC workflows, email marketing and communications platforms, LP/investor portals, workflow or ticketing applications, and reporting and analytics tools.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with senior business leaders, technical teams, and external vendors.
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining comfortable getting into the details of requirements, workflows, data, testing, and implementation.
Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable
Experience with Salesforce or similar enterprise CRM platforms, system integrations/APIs, SQL, Tableau/Power BI, Agile delivery, or alternative investment technology platforms is beneficial but not required across every area.
Prior experience working directly within private equity, private credit, alternatives, or institutional asset management is strongly preferred.
Compensation & Work Structure
Annual performance bonus: Target of approximately 30%, with potential flexibility based on experience
Additional long-term/profit-sharing compensation
The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package and a strong long-term compensation structure.
This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of technology supporting one of the most important client-facing functions within a sophisticated global investment platform.
