Controller, Restaurant & Franchise Accounting (Venture Capital)

We are seeking an experienced accounting leader to help build and oversee the accounting infrastructure for a newly acquired franchise restaurant business within a growing investment and operating platform. If you have a strong foundation in public accounting or audit, enjoy building process in lean environments, and are comfortable leading both day-to-day execution and team oversight, this would be a strong fit for this specialized role.

Broad responsibilities:

• Lead accounting, close, audit, and control activities for a newly acquired franchise restaurant platform
• Build and improve the accounting function for a complex, multi-unit business with both onshore and offshore support
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including review of reconciliations, reporting, and general ledger integrity
• Manage the external audit process and maintain a highly audit-ready environment with strong documentation and review discipline
• Strengthen internal controls across key accounting and operational workflows, including cash, payroll, accounts payable, and revenue
• Oversee offshore accounting staff and help create structure, accountability, and consistency across the broader team
• Partner with leadership to improve processes, increase reporting visibility, and support scalable growth
• Serve as a hands-on leader who can both execute directly and guide others in a lean environment
• Help establish a finance and accounting function that is practical, well-controlled, and built to support long-term expansion

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in accounting, audit, or controllership experience
• Strong audit experience, ideally in public accounting
• CPA strongly preferred
• Experience in restaurant, hospitality, franchise, retail, or other multi-unit operating environments is strongly preferred
• Restaurant audit or franchise audit experience is highly desirable
• Ability to be successful in a lean, fast-paced, and high-ownership environment
• Experience managing audits, close processes, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Comfort leading distributed teams, including offshore accounting support
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative leadership style
• High ethical standards and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset
