Director, Investment Accounting – Leading PE/Insurance Firm

Base Salary: $150,000 - $190,000
We are seeking a Director, Investment Accounting to join a dynamic and growing insurance arm of one of the world’s top private equity firms. Reporting to the group’s SVP, this position will lead core investment accounting functions while driving strategic transformation initiatives across reporting, systems, and controls. Job Description
- Investment Accounting Leadership: Lead the end-to-end accounting and reporting process for a diverse investment portfolio across US GAAP, statutory, and other regulatory frameworks; ensure timely closes and serve as the internal expert on investment-related financials.
- Process Modernization: Drive automation, system enhancements, and data governance improvements across the investment accounting function as part of broader finance transformation initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with actuarial, investment, risk, and technology teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring accounting alignment and execution on complex transactions.
- Governance & Strategy Execution: Represent investment accounting in corporate forums and steering committees, providing insight on controls, reporting standards, and financial operations strategy.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and scale a high-performing team; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development aligned with organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- CPA highly preferred
- Accounting experience in insurance or financial services, including deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory investment accounting
- Relevant experience managing teams and leading through organizational change
- Exposure to reinsurance, annuities, or complex investment vehicles strongly preferred
- Experience with Clearwater, Alteryx, Power BI, or other accounting/reporting tools a plus
