Financial Controller

Base Salary: $180,000 - $210,000

We’re partnering with a highly regarded global investment firm to hire a Financial Controller for a newly created role within a growing investment business. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership, work directly with deal teams and portfolio managers, and lead the fund finance activities behind a varied investment portfolio. You’ll oversee third-party administrator teams, work through complex accounting and valuation questions, and help shape how the finance function develops as the business expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the fund finance function: Take responsibility for day-to-day execution, set priorities across key workstreams, and oversee third-party administrators to ensure timely, accurate reporting and responsive service.
  • Partner with investment professionals: Work closely with deal teams and portfolio managers to understand investment activity, resolve accounting and valuation questions, and provide financial insight for ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Own financial reporting and oversight: Oversee NAV reviews, investor reporting, consolidations, expense allocations, and cash management, ensuring the reporting accurately reflects the underlying investments and fund structures.
  • Guide valuations and the audit process: Oversee U.S. GAAP valuations and supporting materials for senior stakeholders, lead the annual audit, and serve as the primary relationship owner with external auditors.
  • Help the business operate more effectively: Bring together colleagues across finance, investment operations, legal, compliance, and tax to address complex issues. Improve systems, reporting, and workflows as business needs evolve, including practical applications of automation and emerging technology.

Qualifications

  • Relevant accounting and finance experience, including experience within asset management or alternative investments.
  • Prior Big Four experience, private equity fund administration, and/or fund finance experience are a plus. A CPA is valued.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with experience across investment reporting, valuations, audits, and interpreting fund or legal documentation.
  • Experience leading teams or complex workstreams, overseeing external service providers, and communicating effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel skills, comfort with accounting and reporting systems, and an interest in using technology to improve how finance teams work.
  • Accounting, finance, or a related field.

Compensation package: Base salary + 50-60% Annual Bonus & Profit Sharing – DOE
