Manager, Strategic Models (Actuary)

Base Salary: $140,000 - $180,000

Total Compensation: $165,000 - $210,000

We are seeking an experienced actuarial professional to join a leading asset manager in a broad, high-visibility actuarial modeling role. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in life and annuity valuation who has built meaningful experience across financial reporting, reserve analysis, and cross-functional actuarial support.

The role is centered on Variable Annuities valuation and financial reporting, with additional exposure to modeling, assumption review, systems enhancement, controls, and broader business partnership. It is best suited for an FSA or near-equivalent senior actuarial professional who enjoys owning complex reporting processes, analyzing results, and partnering across actuarial, finance, IT, data, and audit stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead valuation and financial reporting for the Variable Annuities block of business
  • Calculate US GAAP, Statutory, Tax reserves, and other actuarial balances
  • Analyze reserve movements and sensitivities across both Statutory and GAAP reporting
  • Explain drivers of quarterly earnings and financial results
  • Conduct annual impact testing related to assumption updates
  • Partner with the Modeling team on model updates and enhancements
  • Work with IT and data teams on valuation system updates and reporting improvements
  • Maintain and improve controls, including SOX-related processes
  • Support audit and regulatory requests
  • Serve as a key day-to-day partner across multiple stakeholders, helping keep critical reporting workflows organized and moving forward.

What You Bring

  • FSA designation with ideally 8+ years of experience in the life and annuity insurance industry
  • Strong knowledge of variable annuity products
  • Experience with US Statutory and GAAP valuation preferred
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work across multiple stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A self-directed, accountable, and collaborative approach to solving complex actuarial and reporting issues.
