Senior Manager, Real Estate Tax
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workspace Type: Hybrid
Base Salary: $150,000 - $230,000
Are you ready to become the person real estate clients call before a transaction happens, not just after the return is due? This opportunity is with a nationally recognized professional services firm that has built one of the largest real estate tax practices in New England, advising prominent developers, operators, investors, funds, REITs, and family offices across the country.
The team is seeking a Tax Senior Manager who can combine strong technical real estate tax knowledge with practical client leadership. This is not a role focused solely on reviewing compliance work. You will work closely with senior leadership and clients on acquisitions, dispositions, partnership structures, debt restructurings, tax planning, and other complex matters that directly affect investment and operating decisions.
The position offers meaningful ownership of client relationships, visibility with experienced tax leaders, and the opportunity to mentor a growing team. It is well suited for someone who enjoys public accounting but wants broader advisory exposure, sophisticated real estate clients, and a clear path toward Director-level leadership.
Job Description
- Lead complex engagements: Oversee tax compliance and advisory work for real estate funds, developers, REITs, family offices, private equity investors, and operating companies.
- Advise on transactions: Support acquisitions, dispositions, entity structuring, debt restructurings, 1031 exchanges, cost segregation studies, and other real estate matters.
- Apply technical expertise: Review partnership and multi-tier entity returns while advising on Subchapter K, tax basis, capital accounts, and Sections 704(b)/704(c).
- Own client delivery: Manage engagement planning, budgets, billing, deadlines, and communication while identifying additional planning opportunities.
- Develop the team: Supervise, coach, and mentor staff while collaborating with senior tax and advisory leadership.
Who This Role Is Built For
- Real Estate Tax Managers ready to step into a Senior Manager role with greater client ownership and strategic responsibility

- Partnership tax professionals with substantial real estate, private equity, family office, or closely held business exposure
- Public accounting professionals who enjoy both technical work and relationship management, including coaching teams and advising clients directly
- The team is looking for someone who can be both technically credible and approachable with clients. Deep real estate experience is highly valued, but the ability to lead engagements, communicate clearly, and solve complex problems is equally important.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active CPA or equivalent professional certification required
- Public accounting or related tax experience
- 3+ years of supervisory or engagement leadership experience
- Strong partnership tax and real estate tax knowledge
- Experience with individual tax returns, including Form 1040
