Tax Advisory Manager – Corporate Tax and ASC 740 (Remote with optional hybrid)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

Workspace Type: Remote

Base Salary: $125,000 - $170,000

Total Compensation: $160,000 - $210,000

Summary:

  • We are recruiting for an experienced Tax Advisory Manager to join a high-growth, advisory-focused accounting and business advisory firm with a national footprint and expanding global presence.
  • Focus area: corporate tax accounting and compliance for C-Corporations, with a strong emphasis on income tax provisions under ASC 740 (quarterly and annual close cycles), plus related technical research and special projects.
  • Work model: remote-first (U.S.) with optional hybrid access to major office hubs for those who want it (team events, trainings, retreats, meet-ups). Client interaction and deliverables can be handled virtually, with periodic on-site needs depending on project scope.
  • Compensation: competitive market base salary, plus annual performance bonus, overtime bonus structure, and long-term incentive/equity component at Manager level and above.

Overview of team structure, responsibilities and company highlights:

Team structure and growth environment:

  • Join a specialized corporate tax advisory team within a broader, multi-solution advisory platform (high technical depth + variety of client work).
  • Direct exposure to senior tax leadership and subject matter experts; real runway for advancement in a firm known for promoting from within.
  • Clear Managing Director/Partner track for consistent performers who want leadership and client ownership over time.
  • You will work across a wide range of industries (public and private), which keeps the work fresh and accelerates learning.

Role scope:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax analysis in accordance with ASC 740 (multi-client environment).
  • Prepare and/or review provision-to-return workpaper support, including true-ups and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare stand-alone and consolidated federal and state C-Corporation income tax returns (software experience a plus).
  • Support technical tax accounting topics such as uncertain tax positions, valuation allowance considerations, and tax footnote/disclosure support.
  • Perform tax research across federal, state, and international issues as needed; draft client-ready documentation/memos.
  • Step into high-impact, project-based roles for clients (often acting as an embedded/outsourced tax manager during close cycles, transformations, or special projects).
  • Build strong working relationships with client tax/finance teams and internal leaders; mentor and develop junior team members.

Value proposition and career upside:

  • Variety and complexity: exposure to multiple industries and non-routine challenges across provision, compliance, and advisory projects (not the same cycle with the same company every year).
  • Learning and visibility: accelerated development through proximity to experienced mentors and leadership, plus meaningful ownership of deliverables.
  • Flexibility: remote-first delivery model with optional office/community connection if desired.
  • Upside: compensation structure designed to reward performance and effort (overtime bonus), plus long-term incentive/equity opportunity at Manager level.
  • Entrepreneurial incentives: opportunities to be rewarded for business development and relationship-building over time.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of corporate tax experience (Big 4 and/or relevant industry), with meaningful exposure to ASC 740 income tax provisions (quarterly and annual).
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax compliance fundamentals for C-Corporations (federal and state), including ability to build/review high-quality workpapers.
  • Comfortable owning deliverables end-to-end in a client-facing environment (managing expectations, communicating clearly, and delivering under deadlines).
  • Strong research, analytical, and project management skills; detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency with Excel and corporate tax/provision tools (GoSystems/OneSource/CorpTax experience is a plus, not required).
  • CPA preferred; MST desirable.
