Business Systems Director – Private Equity | Boston (hybrid)

Base Salary: $190,000 - $215,000
A top-tier global alternative investment firm is seeking a Business Systems Director to join its Private Markets Technology organization. This is a highly visible role partnering directly with investment, finance, and operations stakeholders to own and evolve the systems that underpin a global private equity platform.
The role sits at the intersection of business analysis, product ownership, and technology delivery, with responsibility for translating complex private equity workflows into scalable, high-impact technology solutions.
What This Role Owns
- Lead business analysis, requirements definition, and solution design for systems supporting the private equity lifecycle, including deal management, portfolio monitoring, fund operations, and reporting
- Act as a senior partner to investment professionals, finance, and operations teams to align technology capabilities with business priorities
- Own application roadmaps, release planning, and delivery across internal teams and third-party vendors
- Oversee systems supporting deal execution, fund management, accounting, and portfolio reporting
- Serve as a subject matter expert on private markets processes, data flows, and system dependencies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including system enhancements, integrations, and automation opportunities
Ideal Background
- Experience in business systems analysis, product ownership, or technology delivery experience within buy-side / asset management environments
- Direct experience supporting private equity, growth equity, or private markets businesses
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end private equity lifecycle across funds, strategies, and geographies
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives in parallel while engaging senior stakeholders
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments
Technical & Systems Experience
- Strong analytical and data skills; experience with SQL, Excel, and at least one of Python or BI / reporting tools
- Exposure to private equity platforms such as Investran (or equivalent) preferred
- Exposure to portfolio data and reporting tools such as Chronograph (or equivalent) preferred
- Experience evaluating or implementing AI-enabled solutions to enhance business processes is a plus
Compensation & Structure
- Base Salary (DOE) + Annual Bonus: ~30%
- Profit Sharing: meaningful percentage of total W-2 compensation
