Senior Finance Associate, Data Tools
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workspace Type: Hybrid
Base Salary: $90,000 - $120,000
A leading global alternative investment firm is hiring a Senior Associate to support the build-out of scalable reporting and analytics capabilities across its investment business. This role is equal parts automation, data quality, and stakeholder-facing problem solving; taking inputs from multiple sources, turning them into reliable datasets, and delivering repeatable reporting and dashboards that reduce manual work for teams across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve automated reporting “products” that support recurring internal, client-facing, and regulatory needs, using a mix of Alteryx, Python, and Power BI
- Create and maintain repeatable data workflows (especially in Alteryx) that standardize inputs, improve accuracy, and minimize manual steps
- Act as an internal solutions partner; gather requirements, clarify definitions, structure the approach, and deliver tools that make reporting faster and more consistent
- Partner closely with stakeholders across Investor Relations, Finance, Operations, and investment professionals to understand how data is used and where automation can drive the most impact
- Become a power user of internal data environments; understanding where key data is created, how it’s stored, and how it should flow into downstream reporting
- Drive data hygiene efforts (cleaning legacy fields, reconciling inconsistencies, and helping establish practical standards for better data going forward)
- Develop Power BI dashboards and visual reporting that make complex datasets easier to interpret and more self-service for end users
- Own delivery end-to-end for enhancements and ad-hoc requests, including scoping, build, user testing, iteration, and rollout
Preferred / nice-to-haves
- Experience in analytics / reporting / data tooling within a finance or accounting environment (investment firm experience preferred)
- Strong Power BI development skills, including data modeling, relationships, advanced visuals, and DAX
- Strong querying capability in SQL and comfort working with large datasets (experience with Snowflake is a plus)
- Hands-on experience building workflows in Alteryx (or similar automation tooling) to support repeatable reporting
- Strong project management and organization—able to juggle multiple workstreams with high attention to detail
- Clear communicator with confidence working across functions and levels; comfortable translating between “business ask” and “technical build”
- High ownership mindset and comfort working through ambiguity
Why this opportunity
- Highly visible seat with real ownership over tools that teams rely on every day
- A mix of technical build work and stakeholder partnership (not a back-office “ticket queue”)
- Strong runway into broader analytics, reporting, or finance transformation paths within the firm
