Accounting Manager, Global Payables & Finance Operations

A leading Boston-based global private investment platform is seeking an Accounting Manager, Global Payables & Finance Operations to join its Corporate Finance organization. This is a visible leadership role supporting a complex global management company across multiple business lines, legal entities, and geographies. While the position is anchored in accounts payable and purchase-to-pay leadership, it also offers meaningful exposure to broader corporate accounting operations, close support, controls, cash disbursements, reconciliations, and cross-functional finance partnership.

This opportunity is ideal for an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or finance operations leader who enjoys building structure, leading teams, and improving process in a sophisticated, fast-moving environment. The right person will oversee a meaningful onshore AP/accounting team and offshore processing resources, drive service levels and accountability, and serve as a key partner across Finance and the broader organization. Candidates should be genuinely comfortable with AP ownership — the majority of the role remains within the payables / expense / disbursement space — but this is far more than a transactional processing seat.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end purchase-to-pay cycle for corporate/advisor expenses as well as billable fund and portfolio company expenses, ensuring timely and accurate processing, approvals, coding, and payment execution
  • Manage local AP/accounting professionals and offshore processing support, setting priorities, improving workflow, and elevating execution quality across the team
  • Partner closely with Accounting on AP-related journal entries, reconciliations, close support, and the overall accuracy and completeness of expense data
  • Oversee vendor onboarding, master data governance, payment controls, and compliance-related requirements including tax documentation and 1099 processes
  • Supervise cash disbursement activity, settlement runs, and AP-related bank reconciliation processes
  • Strengthen internal controls across purchasing, approvals, coding, documentation, segregation of duties, and payment authorization
  • Help drive process improvement and automation initiatives across Workday Financials and related AP tools
  • Work cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Compliance, Legal, and business unit finance teams across a global platform
  • Support audit readiness and continuous improvement within a multi-entity finance environment

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of accounting, AP, or finance operations experience within financial services or another complex professional services environment
  • Prior experience managing direct reports and/or offshore resources
  • Strong accounting fundamentals, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and a sound controls mindset
  • Experience owning or materially improving an AP or procure-to-pay function
  • Strong systems aptitude; Workday or similar ERP experience preferred
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a high-volume environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a hands-on leadership style

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Visible role within a top-tier global investment firm
  • Oversee day to day global accounts payable, but with broad interaction across accounting, finance, tax, compliance, legal, and business unit teams
  • Meaningful leadership scope across people, process, and controls
  • Blend of operational ownership and broader finance exposure
  • Competitive compensation structure, profit sharing, strong benefits, and hybrid flexibility
  • Long-term growth runway within a stable, well-resourced organization
