Assistant Vice President, International Accounting & Reporting

Boston, MA (Hybrid)

A leading global investment firm is seeking an Assistant Vice President, International Accounting & Reporting to join its finance organization in Boston. This is a high-visibility role for a strong accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and wants broad international exposure.

This position is ideal for someone with a public accounting foundation and significant experience in international accounting, global consolidations, statutory reporting, and multinational financial operations. Despite the global scope, this role is primarily an accounting and reporting leadership opportunity rather than a pure FP&A or technical finance role.

The AVP will play a key role in overseeing the accounting and reporting activities of non-U.S. entities, partnering across finance, tax, legal, compliance, and external service providers to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead core accounting and reporting activities for a portfolio of international entities across multiple jurisdictions
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close deliverables, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting packages
  • Review reporting provided by in-country accounting partners and validate balance sheet, income statement, and reconciliations for completeness and accuracy
  • Support global consolidations and ensure international transactions are properly reflected in corporate reporting
  • Review statutory financial statements and coordinate local compliance and filing requirements
  • Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers to support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory obligations
  • Monitor cash activity and liquidity across international entities
  • Prepare management reporting, variance analysis, and materials for leadership and board-level discussions
  • Partner cross-functionally with Tax, Legal, Compliance, IT, FP&A, and Corporate Accounting on entity launches, restructurings, and wind-downs
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting efficiency through automation and better systems usage

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior public accounting experience required; Big 4 or large regional firm strongly preferred
  • Experience in a multinational or international accounting environment
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • international entities
    • statutory reporting
    • multi-currency accounting
    • consolidations
    • month-end close and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong overall Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Ability to work effectively across teams, time zones, and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, private equity, asset management, or other complex global environments
  • Exposure to ERP platforms such as Workday
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience coordinating with international service providers, auditors, and tax advisors

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to join a highly respected global firm with a strong culture and high-caliber team
  • Broad exposure across international accounting, reporting, and operational finance
  • Visibility to senior leadership and meaningful cross-functional partnership
  • Strong long-term growth opportunity within a sophisticated global platform
  • Competitive total compensation and benefits package

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $135,000 – $160,000
  • Annual bonus: 30% – 35%
  • Additional profit-sharing potential
  • 401(k) match
  • 100% employer-paid healthcare
  • Tuition reimbursement and other competitive benefits
