Director of Finance And Accounting
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Workspace Type: Hybrid
Base Salary: $160,000 - $200,000
We’re looking for a Fund Finance Director to join a leading global alternative investment firm and take a key leadership role within a growing asset management platform. This person will serve as the primary day-to-day finance lead for a complex portfolio spanning private credit, structured investments, fund-of-funds, private investments, derivatives, and other alternative asset classes.
The platform supports insurance-related investment mandates, but prior insurance experience is not required. This is much more of an investment management finance role, and the asset classes and accounting knowledge can translate from a variety of alternative investment backgrounds.
Company/Team/ Position Highlights
- Highly visible role with direct exposure to investment professionals, senior finance leadership, and cross-functional teams
- Broad investment exposure across private credit, structured products, private investments, fund-of-funds, derivatives, and other complex assets
- Opportunity to take real ownership of a growing finance function rather than stepping into a narrowly defined reporting role
- Oversee third-party administrators while remaining close to the investments, transactions, and underlying economics
- Collaborative, high-performing culture with a strong track record of internal growth and mobility
Compensation & Benefits
- Generous profit sharing program, plus an additional long-term profit sharing opportunity at the Director level
- Comprehensive healthcare, retirement, family support, wellness, and other employee benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary finance lead for a diversified portfolio of alternative investments and separately managed/fund relationships
- Develop a deep understanding of investment structures across private credit, structured assets, private investments, fund-of-funds, derivatives, and related strategies
- Oversee third-party fund administrators and review accounting, NAVs, financial reporting, investor capital activity, and other key deliverables
- Partner closely with investment operations, portfolio management, tax, legal, compliance, and other finance teams
- Support valuation processes, including GAAP fair value analysis and valuation committee materials
- Oversee cash management, expense allocations, audits, consolidations, and bespoke financial reporting
- Review complex investment and legal documentation and ensure transactions are reflected appropriately from an accounting and reporting perspective
- Build and improve scalable finance processes, controls, reporting, and infrastructure as the platform continues to grow
Qualifications
- Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA strongly preferred; CFA or similar qualification also valued
- Relevant accounting and finance experience within asset management, alternative investments, and/or public accounting
- Prior Big 4 or other large public accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of investment accounting, financial reporting, valuations, and complex investment structures
- Experience overseeing third-party fund administrators and working across multiple internal stakeholder groups
